What kind of improvements can you expect in your skin with Laser Genesis Skin Rejuvenation?
Over the course of four to six treatments, Laser Genesis therapy can help restore your skin’s youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage,
or scars. You will see a reduction in pore size, reduction of minor imperfections, and an overall healthier complexion. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overalleffect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.
The Laser Genesis procedureutilizes laser technology to safely, discreetly, and effectively treat uneven skin texture, scars, large pores, and diffuse skin redness. It is a comfortable, non-ablative, and non-invasive form of skin therapy. There are no unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Your treatment can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of general or local anesthesia.
What does the procedure feel like?
Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface during the procedure as the laser hand piece is moved back and forth about an inch above your skin. You can expect to return to normal daily activities with the use of sunscreen for any outdoor activities.
How many treatments will I need?
The initial results are often subtle. On average, you may require Three to six to achieve the best results
2-3 weeks term. The doctor will discuss the end point of your treatment and the timeline of what to expect.
What are the possible side effects?
Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is slight redness that disappears within a few hours after the treatment. The doctor will discuss the benefits, risks and alternatives of the treatment with you beforehand.
What areas can be treated?
Laser Genesis Skin Rejuvenation is most effective on the face and neck. Additionally, it is routinely used in the plastic surgery branch of our practice to treat scars on other parts of the body to reduce redness and speed the overall recovery time from scars.
What is diffuse redness?
Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness similar to those described as having rosy cheeks. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Diffuse redness of the cheeks is often associated with a condition called rosacea which may be either hereditary or sporadic. Laser Genesis therapy will help your appearance by gently treating the affected areas and reducing redness. Rosacea may also respond well to a combination of Laser Genesis therapy and our Intense Pulse Light therapy (IPL).
IPL Photofacial™
In Southern California, the constant exposure to the sun produces severe skin damage. As we get older, some of that damage is manifested by irregular or blotchy pigmentation spots, called solar lentigenes, which can occur on face, arms, hands, shoulders, and chest. These spots detract from beauty as they interfere with the clarity of skin color.
To combat this, our Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system uses the 600 nm wave length and specifically targets this superficial pigment in the epidermis. By using a wavelength spectrum with strong melanin absorption and weak hemoglobin absorption, much lower fluence (power) is needed for effective treatment. Pulses are controlled by a closed-loop power control that regulates every pulse for consistent, safe results. A standard pulsed light system, in contrast, uses a broad spectrum and requires much higher fluences for similar outcomes since a large portion of the light is not effective in the treatment.
Three to six treatments are needed for optimum results. Some discoloration may be seen in the area immediately following the treatment. Within one to three weeks the lesion gradually flakes off.
IPL Treatments take only a few minutes and are usually quite painless. The sensation of a mild brief pinching sensation is sometimes felt.
The best results are obtained when Intense Pulsed Light treatment is combined with Laser Genesis and Titan™ in what is called the 3D Skin Rejuvenation approach. This is the new gold standard for skin rejuvenation and tightening.
No program is complete without good products including 4% hydroquinone, a chemical that blocks the pigment uptake and manufacture by the cells. We offer a full line of skin care products to help complement and enhance the results of your lasertreatment. For long-term benefit, any treatment should always be combined with an effective sunscreen. We offer several choices of different sunscreens that are specifically designed to protect your skin above and beyond over the counter sunscreens.
Titan Laser Treatment
The Titan laser treatment is a cutting edge procedure that helps patients achieve more youthful, tighter and healthier looking skin. As people age, one of the most common skin complaints is sagging, loose skin. Even women and men who do not have substantial wrinkles can suffer from sagging skin, which cannot be treated with traditional wrinkle-reducers like Botox or fillers like Restalyn, collagen or Juvederm. The Titan laser treatment is an ideal solution for people with sagging or loose skin. The Titan laser treatment works by targeting the collagen production below the top layer of skin, stimulating it to multiply and create firmer, tighter skin from within. Unlike Botox, Restalyn or Juvederm, the Titan laser treatment enables the body to naturally repair itself to create more youthful skin. Also, unlike these temporary treatments, the Titan laser treatment will have improved results over the course of time as the collagen continues to grow. Other treatments will fade away and require constant upkeep, making them more expensive in the long term.
Westlake Cosmetic Medical is proud to be one of the leading Southern California laser centers to provide the Titan laser treatment. Since the Titan laser treatment is a fairly new technological advance, many clinics have been slow to adopt this exciting laser. One of the biggest benefits of the Titan laser treatment is its versatility; it can treat everything from a sagging neck and jowls to stretch marks anywhere on the body to loose abdominal skin after weight loss or pregnancy.
Titan™procedure is a revolutionary new technology from Cutera which facilitates the tightening of the skin through a non-surgical, non-ablative procedure. Using infra-red light, the Titan delivers controlled pulses of infra-red light to the skin, creating precise, deep dermal heating, while limiting the penetration depth of the heat to the deeper tissues. This dermal heating is a highly effective and safe method for tightening the skin, stimulating collagen production and remodeling, leading to a more youthful appearance.
During the Titan procedure, the epidermal layer is constantly cooled, making the process virtually pain-free. In fact, there is no need for any general or local anesthesia, and many patients report that the procedure actually feels soothing. Some patients report mild irritation or redness following treatment, but this usually subsides within a few hours without any treatment.
One of the best aspects on Titan™laser treatment is that, unlike more conventional treatments such as injectable fillers in which the improvement is nearly immediate followed by slow degeneration, the improvements brought by Titan™ are slow and gradual, and in most cases actually improve over time. Most people begin to see subtle changes immediately after the first treatment, but after the third or fourth treatment the improvement is marked. Also, as the Titan™ works by stimulating the body to “heal” itself, the changes to your skin continue to improve for as long as six months, and the results can last for up to two years, though individual results will vary.
Unlike Thermage® treatments which can be very painful and require anesthesia, the Titan Procedure™ requires only a thin layer of aloe gel to be rubbed on the skin prior to treatment to allow freer movement of the laser head.
Smoothbeam LASR for Acne and Acne Scars
Smoothbeam’s patented LASR™ (laser assisted skin renewal) process provides skin renewal by combining two unique elements:
- A gentle laser pulse that stimulates the formation of new collagen just beneath the surface of your skin.
- A proprietary Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) that sprays the upper layers of your skin with a fine mist of cryogen prior to, during, and after the laser pulse, cooling and protecting the surface of your skin. Each pulse cycle of cooling and heating occurs within a second, making the process fast and comfortable.
How long does a Smoothbeam Laser treatment take?
One of the most exciting aspects of Smoothbeam technology is that it allows laser treatment in short “lunchtime” procedures. Treatments generally take 10 to 30 minutes. After your treatment, you can go right back to work or out to dinner without anyone knowing you’ve had treatment. Or, if you like, you can choose more aggressive treatment. The number of treatments and interval of treatments vary depending on the severity of the condition and the extent of the improvement desired.
What will the procedure itself be like?
You and your doctor will wear safety glasses to protect your eyes during the procedure. The doctor will use a small handpiece with a probe that touches your skin to deliver the laser light. You will feel the light spray of coolant onto your skin during each laser pulse.
Is there any pain involved in laser treatment with Smoothbeam?
Because the lasers dynamic cooling device is so effective, many patients report the procedure as "mild", with little more than a slight snapping or tingling sensation. Of course, pain is subjective, and topical anesthetics can be used, if the patient wishes.
How long before I see results?
Several treatments may be required, depending on anatomical location and the extent of desired results.
What precautions should be taken before and after treatment?
Avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks before treatment, and again after treatment until your physician allows it. Care should be taken in the first few days following treatments to avoid scrubbing or rinsing the treated area with abrasive skin cleansers.
Are there any side effects to treatment with Smoothbeam?
In general, most procedures have a low risk of side effects. More aggressive treatments might induce some temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin. Some patients might experience pigment changes in skin color. If this occurs, the skin will typically return to normal pigmentation over time.
*"Non-ablative" lasers do not burn, cut or remove the skin.
Fraxel Treatment uses patented fractional technology to target damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that
penetrate deep into the skin. The laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, leaving the surrounding
tissue intact, which promotes rapid healing. This stimulates your body's own natural healing process, replacing
the old and damaged cell with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.
Depending on the size, location and condition of the area to be treated,
Fraxel treatment can take as litle as 20 minutes. However, we ask that you reserve at least 2 hours for your appointment.
The number of treatment you will need dependson
your goals and desired outcomes as well as your lifestyle. We will work with you to weigh
the aggressiveness of treatment with the downtime assoicated. Typically, patients receive their desired outcomes in 3-6 treatments.
(For the most aggressive Fraxel treatment, Fraxel repair, results are seen in just one treatment.)
Can you treat parts of the body? Fraxel lasers treat women and men
of all ages and skin color. Fraxel treatment also works on delicate skin areas like the neck, chest and hands.
In this office, Fraxel treatments are performed on the ------.
Your skin will feel softer, look brighter and show more even skin tone. Other benefits of treatment may include:
